Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept Fair Deal (Nursing Home Support Scheme) payments?
Yes, we have residents who are both in receipt of state funding and who pay privately.
How do you apply for the Fair Deal?
Applications are made to your local Nursing Home Support Office by completing the relevant form which may be accessed on the HSE website. There is an information booklet which you may also download on this site. Click here for more information.
Do you cater for people with Dementia?
Upon receipt of a request for possible admission, Maura O’Sullivan, our manager, will visit the prospective resident to carry out a pre-admission assessment. This is to determine if St. Gobnait’s can cater for the needs of the person. We have many residents with varying degrees of Dementia that reside at St. Gobnait’s. We feel that the small environment suits people with a cognitive impairment.
Do people have to leave the home for care if they become terminally ill?
With the help of the Hospice at Home team we, where possible, and if it is the person’s wish, continue to care for people at end of life at St.Gobnaits.
Are there restrictions to visiting times?
No, visitors are welcome at St. Gobnait’s at all times. We do ask, however, that visitors refrain from entering rooms where residents are dining as requested by our residents. Families are welcome to spend time with our residents in the Visitors Room at this time.
Can a person keep their own GP?
Yes, people are entitled to a GP of their choice provided the GP is willing to travel to the Nursing Home to provide care when necessary.
Is there access to Physiotherapy if needed?
Yes, private Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, or Dietitian services may be accessed from the home.
Do you have a high turnover of staff?
